The company redeveloping the old steel mill property in Sparrows Point will hold a community meeting Wednesday.

Tradepoint Atlantic will host the meeting at 6 p.m. in its office building at 1600 Sparrows Point Road.

The company says it will update progress on its efforts to clean up environmental contamination at the property as well as share its latest development plans.

Tradepoint Atlantic, formerly known as Sparrows Point Terminal, bought the former steel mill for $110 million in 2014. Tradepoint is a joint venture of local investment company Redwood Capital Investments and Chicago-based liquidation and redevelopment firm Hilco.

Tradepoint has been leveling buildings and clearing the property with the goal of transforming it into an industrial hub involving shipping, logistics and light manufacturing. There also are plans for a commercial development with a grocery store, hotel and other retailers.

Announced tenants include a 1.3 million square-foot Under Armour e-commerce fulfillment center that will employ 1,000 workers, a FedEx distribution center that's under construction, vehicle importing company Pasha Automotive and a Harley-Davidson training facility.

The Sparrows Point property was used as a steel-making facility for more than a century, mostly as a Bethlehem Steel plant. After a series of ownership changes, the mill closed for good in 2012 when its then-owner, RG Steel, filed for bankruptcy.
