A Reisterstown man was sentenced to 60 years in prison Wednesday in the 2013 death of his pregnant wife, according to the Baltimore County State's Attorney's office.

Prosecutors say Anthony Rutherford, 42, killed his wife, Kendra Michelle Rutherford, in December 2013, and then set their home on fire. She was three months pregnant at the time. An autopsy showed she had been strangled before the fire.

Rutherford entered what is known as an "Alford plea" to second-degree murder and first-degree arson charges, according to court records. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to convict.

Rutherford allegedly started the fire in the basement of the home on Fox Run Court. A dog and cat in the house died of smoke inhalation.
