One teenager was killed and another was critically injured in a single-car crash in Perry Hall on Friday night, Baltimore County Police said.
James Richard Murphy V, 18, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta east on Joppa Road near Brewers Drive just before 9 p.m. when he lost control of the car, polcie said. The car veered off the road and struck two trees.
Murphy was injured and is in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Murphy's passenger, 18-year-old Nathan Alexander Chappelle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Both boys lived less than two miles from the scene of the crash.
The crash is under investigation and police have not yet determined the cause.
