One man died and three others were injured after an early morning apartment fire Tuesday in Owings Mills, Baltimore County fire officials said.
Firefighters were called at 2:06 a.m. to a two-alarm blaze a4 Tricount Court for at the Painters Mill Apartments where four residents were trapped, fire officials said.
Firefighters rescued a man and a woman a second floor apartment. The man was not conscious when firefighters carried from the apartment and was taken to Northwest Hospital Center, where he later died, officials said. Police have not yet identified him.
The woman was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center for serious injuries. Her condition is unknown. Two others themselves to Northwest Hospital Center for non life-threatening injuries.
A volunteer firefighter was treated for on the scene for minor injuries.
The fire was placed under control at 2:50 a.m. The flames were contained to one apartment, officials said, but other surrounding units were damaged by smoke and water. Residents of other units were not displaced.
About 60 firefighters and 15 pieces of equipment responded to the blaze. Baltimore County police fire investigators have not yet determined a cause. Police do not believe this fire involved criminal activity.
