The two Baltimore County officers involved in the fatal shooting Saturday of a man armed with a knife outside a Randallstown 7-Eleven have been identified as 6- and 12-year veterans of the department.
The police department on Tuesday identified the officers involved in the shooting of Edward Donnell Bright Sr., 56, as Officer Beccio, who has six years with the department, and Officer Miller, who has 12 years. The department does not release first names of officers involved in shootings because of an agreement with the county police union.
Police say Bright, who lived in Randallstown, was armed with a knife outside the store on the 9800 block of Liberty Road. They said he refused to drop the knife even after he was shocked with a Taser. The officers, who had been called to the scene at about 2 a.m., were not injured.
Both Beccio and Miller are assigned to the Woodlawn precinct. Neither has been involved in a shooting before, the department said.
The homicide unit is investigating, and the case will be reviewed by the county State's Attorney's Office.
