Woman accused of stealing from Baltimore Co. recreation council arrested in separate case

A woman accused of stealing from a Baltimore County recreation council was arrested last week in connection with another theft case, authorities said.

Shalanda Nix, 40, of Brooklyn Park, is being held at the county detention center on $100,000 bond, said Baltimore County assistant state's attorney Adam Lippe.

Nix was arrested Aug. 30 on a bench warrant, Lippe said. The warrant was issued after she failed to appear in court in March on charges that she embezzled money from the Liberty Ford car dealership in Randallstown, where she used to work, he said.

Separately, Nix is facing charges that she allegedly stole roughly $20,000 from the Lansdowne-Riverview Recreation Council, where she once served as vice president. Those charges were filed last year in Anne Arundel County, where the council's bank account was located. Court records show she was served with an arrest warrant in that case Aug. 29, and posted a $7,500 bond that day.

Nix also is charged with multiple counts of forgery in another Anne Arundel County case, according to court records.

No trial dates are set. Nix does not have a current attorney listed in online court records.
