Police said Shoulders was traveling north on York Road in a Nissan Murano when he struck a Jeep and a BMW 325 that were stopped at the intersection of York and Shawan roads, causing a chain reaction with other vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. Investigators believe he was speeding.

Multiple people were taken to area hospitals. The driver of the Jeep was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in serious condition Tuesday, police said. Police did not know the conditions of other people involved in the wreck.
