Baltimore County police have charged a Lutherville-Timonium man after an eight-vehicle wreck in Hunt Valley on Monday.
Robert Earl Shoulders, 71, is charged with driving while suspended, driving without a license, and failure to control speed to avoid a collision, police said Tuesday.
Police said Shoulders was traveling north on York Road in a Nissan Murano when he struck a Jeep and a BMW 325 that were stopped at the intersection of York and Shawan roads, causing a chain reaction with other vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. Investigators believe he was speeding.
Multiple people were taken to area hospitals. The driver of the Jeep was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in serious condition Tuesday, police said. Police did not know the conditions of other people involved in the wreck.
Shoulders was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $5,000 bail on Tuesday, they said.
