Four children fall through ice on Baltimore County pond

Four children were rescued after falling through ice into a pond at Lansdowne High School Sunday afternoon, the Baltimore County Fire Department said.

Two bystanders rescued three of the children; the other was pulled out by rescue workers after a short search, fire officials said. Two of the children were in critical condition, and the other two were in serious condition.

Around 60 police, fire and rescue personnel were on the scene with 20 pieces of equipment, including boats and a State Police helicopter for observation. They received the call at 1:30 p.m., officials said.
