A 24-year-old Baltimore man was killed early Sunday after his vehicle collided with a street sweeper in the eastern part of Baltimore County, police said.
The victim was identified as Joseph Riley Armstead III of Glenkirk Court. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said police, who responded just after 1:30 a.m.
Police said Armstead was driving a Jeep Patriot east on Pulaski Highway when it hit the rear of a street sweeper stopped at a red light at the entrance to a Best Buy store near Rossville Boulevard. After the crash, the Jeep went over the curb, hitting a traffic signal support pole near the intersection.
The 53-year-old driver of the street sweeper was not injured.
