A pair of water main breaks in the southeast portion of Baltimore County have knocked out water service to nearly 200 people, the Department of Public Works said Wednesday morning.
Residents on social media reported streams of water flowing down local streets in Edgemere after a 16-inch main was disrupted about 1:47 a.m. in the 7200 block of North Point Road. About 100 customers have lost water service, and crews remained on scene Wednesday morning, according to the department.
About 2:51 a.m., an 8-inch water main was disrupted in the 8400 block of Kavanagh Avenue in Dundalk, knocking water service out for another 80 people, the department said. Repairs are ongoing there as well.
Due to the breaks, summer school programs at both Sparrows Point High School and Sparrows Point Middle School are canceled.
Estimates for when the repairs will be completed were not immediately available.
The breaks come about a day after another break disrupted service for hundreds of residents not far away, in Canton in Southeast Baltimore.
The city was also dealing with several other breaks across the city Wednesday morning, including a break at Battery Avenue and Randall Street in Riverside that had cut water to dozens of customers.
The city expects to spend $300 million on its aging water infrastructure in the next five years.
