Man, 59, targeted and killed in Dundalk, police say

John Thomas Thornton, 59, died Monday afternoon in what police said they believe is a "targeted" homicide.

Officers responded just after 1 p.m. after receiving a call to check on a person in an apartment on the 2100 block of Cameron Drive in Dundalk, according to police. When officers entered the residence, they found Thornton suffering from "significant injuries," police said, and he was pronounced deceased by Baltimore County Fire Department personnel at 1:51 p.m.

Homicide investigators identified and arrested a suspect a few hours later. Further details could not be provided because the suspect has not been officially charged, police said.
