Undercover detectives struck in Dundalk while trying to stop drivers after suspected drug deal

Two detectives were hit by cars Thursday morning in Dundalk when they tried to stop two people suspected in a drug deal, police said.

The undercover detectives saw an alleged drug deal between someone in white car and someone in a gray car about 11:30 a.m. near Aldworth and Edworth roads.

The white car drove away, hitting an unmarked Baltimore County police car and a detective beside the car, police said.

That detective was hospitalized at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. Baltimore City police found the car and arrested the driver on an unrelated charge, police said. They did not identify the driver.

The gray car drove off and hit a curb. Then the driver got out and ran. He was picked up by a woman in another car, which hit the second detective who was on foot and trying to stop them, police said.

The second detective suffered minor injuries; he was not hospitalized.

That car was later found in the city. The man and woman were arrested, police said. Officers did not release their names.
