Man taken into custody after Dundalk barricade

A man was taken into custody by Baltimore County Police early Monday morning after allegedly barricading himself inside of a home in Dundalk for hours, police said.

The 42-year-old man, who was home alone, was "possibly suicidal" and was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation after being taken into custody, said Cpl. John Wachter, a police spokesman.

No one was injured, Wachter said.

The situation led police to warn residents near the home, in the 1600 block of Searles Road, to stay indoors "as a precaution" late Sunday.

Officers were first dispatched to the scene about 10:27 p.m. Sunday, and spoke to the man, but he refused to come out of the home, police said.

A tactical and hostage negotiation team was brought in, made entry into the home just after 2 a.m. Monday and took the man into custody, police said.
