The driver who died in a May crash in White Marsh has been identified, Baltimore County Police announced Tuesday night.

Baltimore County police said James Edward Cobb Jr., 47, of Akron, Ohio, died May 2 after crashing his Dodge Ram pickup truck into the side of a Suzuki Grand Vitara on Campbell Boulevard. The Vitara was stopped in the southbound left-turn lane and sustained minor damage, police said.

Police said the Dodge crossed back over both northbound lanes and left the roadway, striking a tree head-on and catching fire. Cobb was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Cobb’s dog, a Dalmatian, fled the scene after the crash and could not be located by police, but family members found the dog May 3 after “painstaking efforts.”
