A 6-year-old girl who wandered away from home Friday afternoon was found by police in a small stream in cardiac arrest and later died from her injuries, Baltimore County police reported.
The child, who was autistic and non-verbal, lived in the 7900 block of Stratman Road in Dundalk, police said. She was reported missing at 3:52 p.m.
Police reported that they deployed K-9, air and marine units. At 4:53 an officer searching on foot found the girl behind the Merritt Park Baptist Church at 1799 Merritt Blvd., not far from her home. The officer began CPR, which was continued by medics en route to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The girl was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m.
