Police said the call was for an assault in progress, and the 911 caller said there was a subject there threatening people with a knife. Upon arriving, officers found a man in the garage with a knife. Police said he refused to drop the knife, and an officer opened fire, striking him at least once. The man was taken to a hospital. His condition was not known as of early Sunday.

Homicide detectives were on the scene, which is customary in officer-involved shootings. The officer involved was placed on administrative duty while the incident is reviewed. No further information was available as of early Sunday.
