Interstate 83 to close in Baltimore County for bridge installation

The installation of steel beams across Interstate 83 for a new bridge in Baltimore County will close portions of the highway both tonight and tomorrow night, according to the State Highway Administration.

The work is part of a $5.4 million project to replace the bridge carrying Middletown Road over the interstate in Parkton.

Drivers are encouraged to use York Road as an alternate or plan for extra travel time.

The bridge project began in the fall of 2012 and is expected to be completed next spring, the SHA said. The contractor is Six-M Co., of Delta, Pa.

In case of inclement weather, the SHA will delay the work, it said.
