Baltimore police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred just after midnight on Thursday.
Officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Brighton Street near Wilbur H. Waters Park and the Dr. Lillie M. Jackson Elementary School at 12:01 a.m. for a reported shooting. There they discovered a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the chest. The man survived the shooting and was taken to an area hospital, police said.
The man had been walking when he was approached by a group of men, said Det. Kevin Brown, a police spokesman. As the victim tried to flee, one member of the group fired a gun at him. Police have no leads and no description of the suspects, Brown said.
