Light rail train, truck collide downtown; no serious injuries

A light rail train and a truck collided downtown Tuesday, a Maryland Transportation Authority spokesman said.

The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Howard and Lombard streets, said spokesman Terry Owens. The truck driver was taken to an unknown hospital, but Owens said he did not believe his injuries to be serious.

He said he did not know how many passengers were on the train but he said no serious injuries were reported.

The cause if the crash is unclear. Owens said that minor crashes are not uncommon in the heavily congested area.
