Two suspects arrested in city shooting witnessed by police

Two men have been arrested and charged in a Thursday night shooting witnessed by Baltimore detectives, according to police.

About 7:30 p.m., detectives in the 2300 block of Harford Road, in the East Baltimore Midway neighborhood, saw an 18-year-old man get shot, according to Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

"Our detectives were in the area and they actually witnessed the shooting," he said.

Those detectives called other police to the scene, and the victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was taken to an area hospital. A witness was taken to police headquarters in the Northeast District and questioned, Moses said.

Two men, 29-year-old Marco Lomax and 28-year-old Ravanna Cornish, were arrested Thursday in the 600 block of Gutman Ave. and charged with first-degree attempted murder, Moses said. Police also recovered a weapon in connection with the incident, according to Moses.

In a separate incident about 7:25 p.m. Thursday, police found a 22-year-old man shot in the right leg in the Walbrook neighborhood. The man told police he was walking in the 1900 block of Poplar Grove St. when he was shot. The man was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released.
