Baltimore's new state's attorney was being officially sworn in Monday morning at the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse.
Gregg L. Bernstein was scheduled to be sworn in about 7:45 a.m., followed by his assistant state's attorneys. A ceremonial proceeding in Room 400 of the courthouse is set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, after which Bernstein is expected to make a statement and speak to media.
In September, Baltimore voters crossed racial lines to narrowly unseat State's Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy after 15 years in office, in a contentious Democratic Party primary election. Bernstein defeated the incumbent by fewer than 1,400 votes.
