2 Firefighters injured in house fire in Northeast Baltimore

Two Baltimore city firefighters were taken to area hospitals after a two-alarm blaze at a Northeast Baltimore home, city fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the 5700 block of Fair Oaks Avenue about 3:34 p.m. after a report of flames coming from the back of a home, officials said. A downed power line and other conditions contributed to the fire escalating to two alarms. The fire was brought under control after about an hour.

A firefighter was taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries, and a second was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of minor burns, the city fire union said on its Twitter page.

Five people were in the house at the time and were not injured, officials said.
