Police make arrest in October homicide in Southwest Baltimore

City police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 46-year-old man last month that occurred in Southwest Baltimore, where the department has deployed extra officers to quell recent violence in the district.

Keith Holly Jr., also known as "Lil' Ham," 21, was arrested Wednesday in the murder of James Ingram, 46, on Oct. 9. He faces a second-degree murder charge, two assault charges and two weapons counts.

The shooting was one of seven shootings that weekend that left five men dead and three injured.

Southwestern District officers were called just before midnight on Oct. 9 to a house in the 3000 block of Presbury St. for a report of a shooting and found Ingram with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died at 1:23 a.m. Witnesses told police that just before the shooting, the victim had been arguing with someone.

Police have not released a motive.

Last week, the department announced increased patrols in the area after several shootings that left three men dead just east and south of Leakin Park pushing the city's homicide total past 200.
