An argument between two men in the New Southwest/Mount Clare neighborhood last night ended in one of them being struck in the face and later dying, and police are investigating the incident as a suspected homicide this morning.
Around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a reported assault on the 400 block of South Vincent Street. Upon arriving, they found a 46-year-old man lying on the sidewalk. According to police, the man got into an argument with another man and was struck in the face. As he was walking towards his home with the help of his wife and daughter, the man collapsed and struck his head on the concrete. Emergency units took him to Bon Secours Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m.
Police said medical examiners are performing an autopsy this morning to determine the exact cause of death. Homicide detectives have identified a person of interest — the person involved in the argument earlier that evening — but police said they are still looking for the man.
