Baltimore police are investigating a pair of shootings that occurred within an hourlong span Friday evening.

In the first incident, a 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen as he stood in the 4700 block of Liberty Heights Ave. in the Howard Park neighborhood of West Baltimore shortly after 6 p.m., police said. The unknown shooter fired several shots before leaving on foot; the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers called to an East Baltimore hospital found an 18-year-old man who had been shot several times in the stomach. He told police that he had been standing in the 1600 block of Cliftview Ave. in the East Baltimore Midway neighborhood when an unknown shooter approached him and fired several shots. The shooter left; the victim was driven to the hospital for treatment.

Police say they do not know the motive.
