Five people were shot in two incidents Monday night, including a double shooting in East Baltimore that was being investigated by homicide detectives.
In the first incident, a group of people were standing outside about 7:40 p.m. in the 4900 block of 10th St. near Brooklyn Homes when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking two men in the stomach and a third in the pelvis, according to police spokesman Donny Moses.
They were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries and listed in serious condition, Moses said.
About 10 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of E. Preston St. and found a woman shot in the leg and a man shot in the abdomen. Their conditions were not immediately known, but police said homicide detectives were notified.
A crowd gathered across the street as medics treated the victims, with some frantically making phone calls to determine whether the victim was a relative. When ambulances pulled away, the crowd split into two groups — those heading to the hospital those and returning to bed.
