Police investigate fatal shooting of man, 36, in Northwest Baltimore

A 36-year-old man died after he was shot in the head early Friday in Northwest Baltimore, and the death of a man that stumped police last week has been ruled a homicide by the state medical examiner's office, according to city police.

At about 12:10 a.m. an officer responded to a call for a shooting in the 5200 block of Florence Ave., in the Arlington neighborhood, and found Shawn Crawford, police said.

Crawford, of the 3900 block of Bonner Road, was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:49 a.m.

Also added to the city's homicide count was the death of Steven Harris, found July 22 in the 4200 block of Pimlico Road with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head. But after an autopsy, the medical examiner's office said he had not been shot, and police de-classified the death as a homicide pending further investigation.

The medical examiner has since ruled that Harris was killed by blunt force trauma.

The killings bring the city's total for the year to 122, compared with 130 at this point last year.
