Two separate overnight shootings in Baltimore left a man dead and a pregnant woman injured in the eastern and southern parts of the city, according to police.
The fatal shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. in an alley in the 3300 block of Noble Ave. in Southeast Baltimore's Linwood neighborhood. Police found a 23-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to an area hospital and died a short time later, police said. Officers are investigating the man's death as a homicide. His name was not immediately available.
Another shooting was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Arsan Ave., in South Baltimore's Brooklyn neighborhood. Police said they found a 23-year-old pregnant woman who had been shot twice in the abdomen while on the street. She was taken to an undisclosed area hospital, where she and her unborn child were in serious but stable condition, police said.
Officer Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman, said detectives were investigating the possibility that the woman had been targeted by an assailant. Her name was not released.
