Three shot in two separate incidents in Baltimore, police say

Police are investigating a double-shooting in Northeast Baltimore, the first of two late-night shootings in the city that sent three people to area hospitals, according to police.

Officers were called at about 10:50 p.m. Thursday to the 3700 block of Springwood Ave. after an 18-year-old woman was shot in the torso in front of a house, police say. The victim was sitting on steps and talking with several friends when gunshots rang out from behind, scattering the group, according to authorities. She was taken to an area hospital, and her condition is unknown.

Ten minutes later, police found a 16-year-old boy — who investigators say was part of the original attack —shot in the left leg in the 6500 block of Brook Ave. The teenager was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

About 90 minutes later, police responded to a call for shots fired in the 5300 block of Beaufort Ave. in Northwest Baltimore. Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds but have released no further details about the incident.
