Motorcyclist killed in city after crashing into pole

A motorcyclist who was killed Sunday after crashing into a pole at Gilmor and Fayette streets was identified on Monday as Alphonso Gaye, 44, of Greenbelt, according to a Baltimore Police spokesman.

Police said the man struck a pole after swerving to avoid another vehicle about 5:45 p.m. Detective Jeremy Silbert, the spokesman, said witnesses told police that the motorcycle was speeding. The driver was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died of his injuries.
