A Baltimore jury has convicted a 22-year-old man who witnesses said bragged about his role in a 2007 murder.
John Mooney, 22, of the 3000 block of Mathews St., was convicted Thursday of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, according to the state's attorney's office. The jury acquitted Mooney of first-degree murder and could not agree on a second-degree murder charge.
Mooney was accused in the shooting Sept. 25, 2007, of Keith Ray Jr., 25, in the 600 block of Wyman Park Drive. Ray was found four days later with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in Wyman Park, 150 yards from the road, prosecutors said.
According to witnesses, Mooney bragged about the shooting, and he was seen in Wyman Park woods on the day of the murder, prosecutors said.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 19, and Mooney faces a possible life term, according to the state's attorney's office.
