Water main break closes portion of Cold Spring Lane

A portion of Cold Spring Lane was shut Friday after a 12-inch water main broke, causing further traffic detours in a section of Northeast Baltimore already experiencing road closures.

The 1900 block of E. Cold Spring Lane, between Hillen and Harford roads, was closed about 2 p.m., said Kurt Kocher, a city public works spokesman. Crews would likely work through the night to finish the repairs to the water main and road, according to Kocher.

That section of Cold Spring was serving as a detour for traffic on Argonne Drive, a section of which is closed for repairs to the bridge over Herring Run, west of Harford Road. The emergency work to repair deteriorating support elements on the bridge, a $5.6 million project, is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
