Trial of former city councilman’s accused killers postponed

The trial of three city men accused of fatally shooting former City Councilman Kenneth N. Harris in 2008 was postponed Friday at the request of defense attorneys.

A new trial date was not immediately scheduled.

Charles Y. McGaney, 21, Gary Collins, 21, and Jerome Williams, 17, face first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Harris at the Northwood Shopping Center on Sept. 20, 2008. All three remain held without bond at the city detention center.
