City homicide detectives were investigating the fatal shooting Tuesday night of a 30-year-old man in a North Baltimore alley.
About 6:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a discharged weapon and found Dwayne Ronald Majett suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso in a rear alley behind the 500 block of Chateau Ave., in the Winston-Govans neighborhood just off York Road.
Majett, of the 4700 block of Wrenwood Ave., was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 7:30 p.m., police said
Court records show that Majett was convicted of second-degree murder in 1997 and received a 25-year prison sentence, 10 years of which were suspended. He was released from prison on mandatory release Feb. 24, officials said.
The killing is the seventh this year in the city's Northern District. Police had not made any arrests and did not have a motive.
