Police have identified the 40-year-old man who died early Thursday morning after he was shot in the back in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood, a Baltimore Police spokesman said.
Sean Ramseur, of the 500 block of Sheridan Avenue, was found in the rear of the same block with a gunshot wound to his back.
He was discovered by an officer on patrol in the 5200 block of York Road, spokesman Kevin Hagan said. The officer heard gunshots about 11:30 p.m. and went to investigate.
Ramseur was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m., Hagan said
Investigators believe the shooting took place in the 500 block of Glenwood Ave. because shell casings were discovered at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and York Road, Hagan said.
In 2007, Ramseur was acquitted of first-degree murder and numerous other charges in connection with the July 12, 2006 shooting death of 28-year-old Gary Shipman. Ramseur was awaiting a May trial date on drug charges.
