A 19-year-old man was shot Wednesday night in the Mondawmin neighborhood of West Baltimore, according to police.

Officers responded to Bentalou Street and North Avenue for a report of a shooting and found the man lying on the ground. He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment, police said. His condition was not available.

According to preliminary information, the man had been walking in the 1900 block of N. Bentalou St. after leaving Mondawmin Mall when he heard a loud pop, police said.

The man realized he had been hit and began to run, police said. He was later found by patrol officers.
