A 35-year-old West Baltimore man accidentally shot himself in the right knee Thursday night and was arrested for possessing an illegal weapon, according to city police.

Tyrone Bailey was attempting to remove the gun from his pants pocket when it discharged once in the 1800 block of Presstman St. at about 8 p.m., police said. Bailey was transported by an illegal taxi driver to an area hospital, where police took a report of the incident, a department spokesman said.

Bailey was released from the hospital and taken into custody.
