Police arrest 3 accused in stabbing death of Marine at party

Three men were arrested and charged with first degree murder Sunday morning in the stabbing death of a Marine at a house party in Northeast Baltimore the previous morning, Baltimore Police said.

The three men arrested and charged were Michael Wiggins, 26; Vernon Hadley, 22 and Nicky Woodward, 27, said Baltimore Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. Four homicide detectives interviewed more than 30 witnesses to the stabbing of Pfc. Darius Ray of Potomac, Guglielmi said.

"The murder of a service member hits very hard," Guglielmi said. "And we marshaled all of our resources to put this case down very quickly."

Ray, 20, was stationed in Washington. He was stabbed in the upper torso and pronounced dead at 4:58 a.m. Saturday. Another man stabbed at the party remained at Good Samaritan Hospital on Sunday morning with non-life-threatening injuries, Guglielmi said.

Though Guglielmi did not have home addresses for the three men charged as of Sunday morning, he said they were part of a contingent of neighborhood men who showed up at the party in the 6900 block of McClean Blvd. and were asked to leave. An altercation ensued and the neighborhood men later returned with a knife, Guglielmi said.
