City man killed in Saturday hit-and-run accident

A 62-year-old pedestrian from Baltimore was killed Saturday night after a car struck him and left the scene, according to city police. James Little Jr. of the 4800 block of Lanier Ave. was struck by a 1997 Jeep Cherokee driving northbound in the 4700 block of Greenspring Ave., said police spokesman Agent Donny Moses.

Little was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m.

The driver of the car hit Little after swerving to avoid hitting another vehicle, also driving northbound on Greenspring Ave., Moses said.

The car then continued driving northbound on Greenspring Ave., he said.

Police later caught up with the Jeep, whose windshield was smashed and stained with blood, at the 4700 block of Pimlico Road. and brought in the driver, a 20-year-old woman, to the central district for questioning and a Breathalyzer test.

She was later released.

Police are waiting for the results of toxicology tests and are continuing the investigation.
