Department of Public Works warns of imposters posing as city workers

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works is advising residents to be on alert for imposters posing as city water workers trying to get into their homes.

One possible case was reported in northeast Baltimore County Thursday, according to the department.

Employees of the department are not permitted to enter homes without consent, and will wear uniforms and have photo identification.

Public Works encourages residents to ask to see the worker's employee identification card and to call the department for verification if they have any doubts. City residents can call 311 and those in the Baltimore County service area can call 410-396-5352.

Suspicious activity should be reported to the police, according to the department.
