Morgan State student dies after exercising

A Morgan State University student died suddenly after exercising on Wednesday night, university officials said.

Dmitri T. Clemons, 21, of Silver Spring, was working out in Hurt Gymnasium on campus when he collapsed, Morgan spokesman Clint Coleman said. He was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m.

The death came days after Morgan sophomore Marcus Edwards was fatally stabbed, leaving the campus reeling.

An autopsy will determine the cause of Clemons' death. University officials said Clemons was vice president of the campus's American Society of Civil Engineering and was a civil engineering major. He was a senior expected to graduate in December, Coleman said.

"He had many friends and a loving family," Kevin Banks, Morgan's vice president of student affairs, wrote in a note to the campus community. "We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends."
