A fire in an vacant dwelling on Monroe Street has blocked the street between Wilkens and Ohio avenues, according to the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management.
OEM spokesman Connor Scott said the one-alarm blaze was reported on the 500 block of Monroe Street at 2:05 p.m. He said that initially firefighters battled the fire indoors but later went outside due to significant debris inside.
As of 2:50 p.m., the fire had not been fully contained, Scott said. He added that there were no reported injuries. A portion of the dwelling, Scott said, extended to a neighboring unit, but said the blaze had not extended to the other unit.
