Loyola student critically injured in fall from campus building

A student at Loyola University Maryland was critically injured early Friday morning after falling from a campus building balcony.

Sheilah Shaw Horton, vice president for student development and dean of students, wrote an email to employees and students informing them about the accident and inviting them to a noon-time mass in Alumni Memorial Chapel "to pray for the student, his family and all those who are affected."

The message said the unnamed student was in critical condition at a local hospital.

A university spokesman said no other information was immediately being released about the student or the accident.
