A 25-year-old Baltimore member of the Bloods gang pleaded guilty Friday to a racketeering charge stemming from an assault on a man with the rival Crips organization.
Ali Jackson, a member of the Southside Brims, a subset of the Bloods, pleaded guilty to committing a violent act in aid of racketeering, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland. A fellow gang member, Davon Hamilton, 20, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to the same charge last month.
Officials said Jackson and Hamilton heard that another gang member had allegedly been assaulted by members of the Crips. They and fellow gang members went to the area of the alleged attack and assaulted a suspected Crips member, who was knocked unconscious and stabbed four times.
Jackson said he participated in the assault to maintain or increase his position in the gang, officials said.
Jackson and Hamilton, whose gang has members in Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, South Carolina and Pennsylvania, each face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. They will be sentenced in April.
