Two killed, several others wounded in city's weekend shootings

Two people were killed and another was gravely injured by gunfire in shootings around Baltimore over the weekend, with a half dozen others also wounded, police said.

A man was shot at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Woodland and Delaware avenues in the Park Heights neighborhood of Northwest Baltimore, police said. Homicide detectives were investigating the incident due to the severity of the man's injuries, and his condition had not been released as of Sunday evening.

Early Sunday, a man had been shot in the head and killed in the Johnston Square neighborhood. The man, identified as Antonio Mayes, 26, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead on the scene when police found him just before 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of Valley Street, police said.

A Rosedale man was killed in Northeast Baltimore on Friday night. On Sunday, police identified him as Daniels Darnell Turner, 32. He was shot in the 6800 block of McClean Blvd. in the Hamilton Hills neighborhood just after 10 p.m. and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Sunday evening, a man was shot in the back in the 3600 block of Edmonson Avenue, police said. He was expected to survive.

A man and a boy, whose ages were not disclosed by police, were also shot in the early morning hours of Sunday in the same public housing community where police shot and killed a suspect last week. Police went to the 200 block of Silver Court in the Douglass Homes community at about 2:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting, but witnesses initially told police no one was shot. About 15 minutes later, a man with a graze wound to his head and a boy with a gunshot wound to his side took themselves to a hospital for treatment. The boy was in good condition, police said.

That shooting was yards from where on Wednesday police fatally shot a 25-year-old man they said was armed with a gun.

A man and a woman were injured early Sunday morning in the Northwood area of North Baltimore. The man was shot in his right shin and the woman in her left forearm at about 3:20 a.m. in the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road, police said. The victims were in stable condition, police said.

Two men also walked into a Baltimore hospital on Saturday at about 7:20 p.m. with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, but police had not determined as of Sunday where that shooting had taken place.
