2 men arrested in attempted robbery of Shipley Hill Rent-A-Center

Police arrested two men who tried to hold up a Rent-A-Center in Shipley Hill at gunpoint Saturday afternoon, according to a police news release.

The men walked into the store, in the 2300 block of Frederick Ave., carrying handguns and forced the manager and three employees to lie on the floor while they stole money from the register and employees, the release said.

When police arrived, they saw two men by the back counter, who began walking "nonchalantly" to the front of the store, the release said, staying separate and giving the officers a wide berth. The officers confronted the men, who had been waiting in the store for the safe to be opened, and arrested them.

Police did not identify the suspects.
