City firefighter injured on the job in South Baltimore

A fire in South Baltimore early Wednesday morning left one firefighter injured, fire officials said.

Baltimore City Fire Department spokeswoman Blair Adams said shortly after 6 a.m. firefighters were called to the 400 block of East Patapsco Ave. for a fire. When first responders arrived in the Brooklyn neighborhood, Adams said they found fire inside a two-story store front. The fire appeared to be inside an apartment on the second floor.

While battling the fire, a firefighter sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Adams said.

It took firefighters an hour and a half to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Adams said.
