Baltimore has a snow budget of $6.3 million this year, an amount Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said makes the city well prepared for winter.

Rawlings-Blake announced the budget Monday during a visit to the city's salt dome and brine facility.

The mayor said the money pays for more than 300 employees, 280 snow removal vehicles and 15,200 tons of salt.

The city budgeted $2.8 million for snow removal during the last fiscal year, when nearly 30 inches fell in some areas of Baltimore.

The administration asked the City Council to allocate $40 million in June to pay for removal of that historic snowfall.
