Five men were shot —two fatally — in separate incidents in Baltimore’s Waverly, Central Park Heights, Mt. Holly and Dunbar-Broadway neighborhoods Tuesday night and Wednesday, police said.
Officers responded to an area hospital around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a walk-in shooting victim, police said in a release posted to Facebook. A 19-year-old man being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest told investigators he was near 33rd and Frisby streets when he heard three gunshots and realized he had been hit.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call 410-396-2221.
About a half hour later, officers arrived at Queensberry and Oakley avenues where they found a man lying in the street, police said. The man was unresponsive and had a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
At 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers responded to a call of a shooting at the rear of the 2100 block of Mt. Holly St. and found a man shot in the head. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Department of Public Works employees had been cleaning up trash when they discovered the victim, according to a preliminary police investigation.
At 9:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of N. Broadway in Dunbar-Broadway and found a 23-year-old man shot in his upper body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The department wrote that a second victim was shot in the back during the same incident and is being treated at a hospital.
Police wrote that homicide detectives are investigating the shooting because of the severity of the first victim’s injuries.
