Baltimore city police officers responded Monday night and early Tuesday morning to reports of two shootings, one fatal and one they called accidental.
At 3:16 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1900 block of N. Bentalou St. for a report of a shooting. Officers found a man lying in the street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the groin area. The man, whose age was estimated at 25, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made and his name has not been released.
At 7:26 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a call at a residence in the 2800 block of Forest Glen Road in Northwest Baltimore. They found a 23-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. According to police, she was treated on the scene and taken to a local hospital for additional treatment. The officers were called by the woman's husband, who said he shot the woman by accident, police said. The wounds were not considered life-threatening.
In their preliminary investigation, police termed the shooting accidental.
